Transition Women's Weekend Earlybird registration is now open until April 15, 2024

Register here at Radical Roots MTB

Transition Women’s Weekend East will kick off on Friday night with a casual meet-and-greet, facilities tour, and educational opportunities at Industry Nine HQ (150 Westside Dr, Asheville, NC 28806) The coaches and crew would love to get to know you better, mingle a bit, answer any questions, and finalize any registration documents. This is also a great time to get set-up on a demo bike and/or demo wheels if you are planning on demoing a bike or wheels for the weekend. Industry Nine will be treating us to tasty beverages, light snacks, and optional facilities tour and wheel education class.

On Saturday and Sunday we will meet at our special location at Ride Kanuga Bike Park in Hendersonville, NC for a fun-filled day of learning and playing on bikes. You can expect us to split into smaller groups based on goals and previous experience then spend 6-7 hours on the bike each day honing skills, building confidence, riding trails, and deepening your understanding of complex mountain bike techniques. On Saturday night we will gather for a private dinner party at The Hub and Pisgah Tavern, allowing us to relive the fun of day one and continue to get to know each other.

The coaches’ progressive approach to teaching starts students in a low-consequence setting, using our “progression props”, giving them time to focus on proper body position, timing, and execution of fundamental and complex skills. Then they methodically add the next level of complexity for each skill so that their students are powered by the confidence of these successful successions.

Regardless if your goals for the weekend are to learn the basics of mountain biking or learn how to catch more air and ride faster - our coaches tailor the lessons to your goals. Each student will also receive some “fun homework” with a skills re-cap sheet and study guide to help them continue to progress well beyond our weekend together.

Early bird pricing is $445 until March 31st then it bumps to full price, $495

DETAILS:

  • Over 12 hours of goal-oriented, expert coaching by professional coaches Angi Weston, Shanna Powell, Carol Baldwin and many more from the Radical Roots MTB team & EndlessBikeGirl MTB Skills team

  • Free demo bikes and lunches provided by Transition Bicycle Company

  • Free demo wheels and happy hour treats provided by Industry Nine

  • Dinner and private party on Saturday night at The Hub and Pisgah Tavern to relive the fun and excitement from day one with fellow participants over a delicious meal, compliments of The Hub

PMBIA Ride Guide Training

The PMBIA Ride Guide is a one-day training course designed for club volunteers or local riders who wish to take other people on organized, group rides. The course provides the necessary training to learn how to organize a ride, beginning with a meet ’n’ greet, bike check and safety talk. Guides will learn how to assess riders skills, perform bike checks and warm-ups safely, allowing them to plan and execute a safe, fun ride.

The course will include an online pre-course worksheet, complete with reading materials to begin your training before we even see you. Topics such as risk management, class size and terrain choice will also be discussed, as well as a chance to practice guiding the group, to gain some feedback on your own personal guiding, risk management and communication skills.

Additional workshops throughout the day will also discuss the recommended mechanic and first aid skills required by guides, and how to find this training, if necessary.

The day will mostly be spent on the trails, riding bikes and learning outside. It’s a fun day with great people and also a good chance to get some tips and feedback on your own riding skills.

SheVentures Earth

Hey Adventurer! (if you're a details person checkout our website for way more info)

Welcome to SheVentures Camp located in the heart of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Join us and tons of other partners for what we hope and believe, will be a weekend when the joy of adventure transforms your soul (yeah, we know that sounds super cheesy but it’s kinda true.) We also hope you'll leave knowing something you didn't...like how to rock climb or mountain bike or build a fire.

This time is about connecting or re-connecting us to the strength outdoor adventure brings. It'll be scary. Anything new is. It'll also be empowering as your determination to overcome inspires more courage deep within. Even if we fail along the way. Pooping in the woods, climbing boulders or running up a big a** hill strip us of our comfort and prove we’re more capable than we can imagine.

It’s also about connecting with other women who can support our weekend and maybe even support our daily life adventures. We know deep friendships are forged in the midst of challenge and we’re confident we’ll find inspiration and encouragement from each other.

One of our hopes is you leave camp equipped to re-create the weekend on your own. We wanna give you everything necessary to venture out in the woods for a weekend of fun. From cooking to starting a fire you'll leave knowledgeable about the basics of outdoor camping and adventuring!

Advanced Laurel Mountain->Pilot Rock Skill Clinic Day

This Advanced skill instruction day will meet at the bottom of Pilot Rock trail on 1206. This skill clinic will focus on skills and maneuvers needed to efficiently ride or hike a bike the various features on Laurel Mountain Trail and Pilot Rock trail in Pisgah National Forest. In order to participate in this clinic day, riders need to have ridden Laurel Mountain Trail and Pilot Rock trail prior to this clinic, need to have taken either the Black Mountain Skill Clinic June 8, 2024 or the North Mills River Skill Clinic July 6. Racing the Pisgah Productions 111k, 55.5k, PMBAR, and the Pisgah Stage Race in previous years will also count as a prerequisite to this clinic. Having taken a previous Pisgah Clinic or Private lesson with Shanna will also count toward this prerequisite. It’s a long hard day in the Pisgah and the intention of the clinic is to improve the skills and maneuvers of riders who are already riding these trails but want to ride them with more skill and efficiency. This is a remote trail with little cell reception so riders need to understand the physical and mental difficulty of this particular clinic. For the sake of all riders safety and learning these pre-requisites need to be in place for this particular clinic. Riders can sign up for this clinic and will be contacted by Shanna after sign up for pre-requisite info and payment of $295.00 USD will be taken at that time. The rider maximum for this clinic is 6 riders. Transfer/cancellation fee of $75.00 will be necessary if riders need to cancel or transfer registration of this clinic at any time after payment is made.

SheVentures Camp

SheVentures Camp

This is camp. A camp just for ladies.

Maybe you went to summer camp as a kid and loved the excitment and freedom of the outdoors. Or maybe, you never went to camp and the woods remain a mystical place. Whatever your experience you're welcome here.

For three days and two nights we pitch tents, start fires and learn to do things like rock climb, trail run, mountain bike, hike or paddle board.  Oh, and we keep it small. No big groups here. By the end of the weekend you'll most likely be known and adored by everyone.

You bring what gear you have and we give you the rest (but not to take home...our gear partners might not like that.) We also provide any necessary gear for fun...a bike, paddle board, we'll even let you use some sweet trail running or hiking shoes if you don't have any. We want to make camp as accessible as possible. To all women.

After our day of stretching outside our comfort zone we'll sit around a fire (that we built) and share stories of success and laugh at our failures. And drink beer. Or Coke. Your choice, our treat.

Join me and other area female identifying riders every second Sunday of the month for She Shreds Sunday at Ride Kanuga. There will be no formal skills instruction for these events. My goal is for like minded womxn to come out to Ride Kanuga, meet and session the trails of their choice. I don’t get to ride the black trails often so this is my opportunity to session these trails with other womxn who are also interested in improving their confidence on these trails. This is one of my 2022 commitments to my personal growth and development on the bike and I would like other womxn to join me! We’ll look and talk and session. I do not however want this day to be only for advanced riders. Starting in August of 2022 from 12-2:15 we’ll be riding green and blue trails for newer riders who want to come out and then heading back to the parking lot to snack, water, and regroup. From 2:45-5pm we’ll be riding and sessioning the black trails. I want all womxn of all levels to come out, make friends and find a group to session trails within their comfort zone together and start pushing that comfort zone together. You will need to either purchase a day pass for Ride Kanuga or have a monthly or yearly pass valid through or on the Sunday. We will meet in the second gravel parking lot on the right past the adventure center and skill area and group up there. Come Play bikes with me!

EndlessBikeGirl MTB Skills Presents She Shreds Sunday at Ride Kanuga

I will be unable to facilitate this event this month as I will be teaching a PMBIA Level 1 Certification course. Someone else may facilitate the day or I may just need to cancel it. See my Instagram stories Thursday-Saturday for more information.
